Questions to Ask on Your College Tour
You've planned and scheduled your summer college campus tours and now you're ready to attend them! You might be wondering, what should I ask on a college tour? First, there are no silly questions when it comes to learning more about campus life, so don't be afraid to ask whatever you are wondering about. Student tour guides are trained to answer your questions, and they were once in your exact shoes as prospective students. Need inspiration on what to ask? Here are our ideas for questions to ask on your college tour.
Why did you choose this school?
If your tour is led by a current student, be sure to ask them what helped them make their decision to attend. Their answer may surprise you, since college decisions can often be a journey, rather than a decision made in a single moment. Their answer will help you learn about what you have to look forward to as a student.
What's your favorite study spot?
You will likely tour the main library on campus (ours is !), but favorite student study spaces often extend beyond the library. Asking your tour guide this question will help you get a sense of all the other spaces on campus students call their home.
Where will I live?
Where you will live on campus may be top of mind when you are touring colleges. Be sure to ask your tour guide about what options exist for housing in your first year and beyond. Ask about how you will find community in your residence hall. At 91ÖÆƬ³§, Resident Assistants help build community through hall social events. You can find communal lounges and kitchens in each hall.
How do students find community?
You may be wondering what it will be like to join a campus where you don't know anyone and how you will find community. It can be helpful to ask your tour guide how students on campus meet new friends. Here at 91ÖÆƬ³§, we have something for just about everyone, with 200+ student clubs and organizations and an annual picnic called UDay, where students can meet representatives from student clubs and local community organizations.
How did you choose your major?
Maybe you know what you want to major in, or maybe you still aren't sure yet. Either way is totally fine at 91ÖÆƬ³§. Asking your tour guide how they chose their major can give you a lot of information about the process of choosing and changing your major at that school and what support resources exist. 91ÖÆƬ³§ offers dedicated advising within each college and specific advising for undeclared students.
