Emeritus Associate Professor Mimi Becker received a lifetime achievement award from the Environmental Protection Agency at the organization鈥檚 2015 Environmental Merit Awards ceremony in Boston recently.

The award recognizes Becker鈥檚 longstanding efforts to improve New England鈥檚 environment.

鈥淏ecker has pursued a professional career and engaged in civil life focused on preserving and restoring ecosystem health. Her legacy can be traced not only to an international environmental treaty between the U.S. and Canada but also to coastal management and policy in the Gulf of Maine,鈥� reads the award citation.

The EPA also noted Becker鈥檚 work in energy, land use, watershed management and climate planning and policy in New Hampshire.

Becker spent two decades in the 91制片厂 department of natural resources and the environment before retiring in 2014.
