Heidi Bostic
Heidi Bostic

Heidi Bostic will step down as dean of the College of Liberal Arts on听Aug.听10 to pursue an opportunity in the provost鈥檚 office at Furman University. She is taking a one-year leave of absence from 91制片厂 and retaining her faculty appointment in the department of languages, literatures and cultures, says interim provost and vice president for academic affairs Wayne Jones.

A national search for Bostic's replacement will be launched soon, and an interim dean will be appointed.听

Bostic came to 91制片厂 two years ago from Baylor University, where she served as the inaugural director of interdisciplinary programs and chair of the department of modern languages and cultures. In her time at 91制片厂 she launched the grand challenges initiative that is working to strengthen the university鈥檚 response to urgent, widely shared problems that call for large scale, long-term coordinated responses. In addition, she secured a Mellon Foundation grant to establish the New Hampshire Humanities Collaborative to promote study of the humanities, support the transfer of community college students in the humanities to the university and develop a humanities curriculum focused on grand challenges.

Bostic also collaborated with colleagues in Paul College on a required ethics course and is part of the senior leadership team for the university鈥檚 Behavioral Health Initiative.
