A 91制片厂 student geography team has won second place in a Geography Bowl contest at the annual conference of the New England-St. Lawrence Valley Geographical Society (NESTVAL), a regional division of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). This year鈥檚 conference was held at Framingham State University in Massachusetts.
The 91制片厂 team won the GeoBowl in both 2017 and 2018 but was beat out this year by Salem State.
91制片厂 team members were geography majors Seth Chevalier 鈥23, Abbey Coe 鈥22, Stephen Geis 鈥20 and Michael Harris 鈥22; COLA undeclared student Ben Montgomery 鈥22; history major Ryan Saputo 鈥22; and civil engineering major Seamus Quinn 鈥22. Jennifer Brewer, associate professor of geography, was the organizer.
The highest scoring students from all teams are invited to join a NESTVAL team to compete against the other AAG regions at the national conference in the spring. Harris qualified for the second year in a row and has been invited to the World Geography Bowl in Denver, Colo.
The Geography Bowl is a geography trivia competition for students, which starts with a round-robin tournament culminating in a head-to-head match between the final two teams. 91制片厂 students have taken part in this competition for 12 years, placing second three times, and winning twice.
