An internationally known 91制片厂 professor and a generous alumni benefactor recently received the 91制片厂鈥檚 most prestigious awards for their support of and service to the university. During a campus celebration on September 25, John H. 鈥淛ack鈥� Smith 鈥�50 was presented with the 91制片厂 Foundation鈥檚 Hubbard Family Award for Service to Philanthropy, the university鈥檚 highest honor to recognize philanthropic leadership and gifts. David Finklehor, professor of sociology and founder and director of the Crimes Against Children Research Center, received the Charles Holmes Pettee Medal, which honors individuals whose life work reflects exceptional service to the state, nation or world. Of this year鈥檚 two highly lauded honorees 鈥� Smith has been honored previously with the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences Distinguished Alumni Award and the Alumni Meritorious Service Award, and Finkelhor is one of only four faculty members to be designated a University Professor, 91制片厂鈥檚 highest academic distinction 鈥� 91制片厂 President Mark Huddleston says, 鈥淭hey have been selected for these prestigious awards because they represent the highest qualities of character and passion in their longstanding service to and support of this great university.鈥�
