How To Prepare for the Career & Internship Fair

The academic year may be well underway, but many students are already looking toward the future, and 91制片厂 Career and Professional Success (CaPS) is helping guide them. On Oct. 3, CaPS will hold one of its biggest events, the Career & Internship Fair, from noon to 5 p.m. in the Whittemore Center Arena. The university has hosted career fairs for about a decade, but this one will be the largest to date. A record number of 234 employers from numerous organizations and听industries, including federal agencies, retailers, media, manufacturing, high-tech and healthcare, will be present.

鈥淭his is one of the most exciting events we put on,鈥� says Raina Sarvaiya, CaPS director of employer relations. 鈥淲e鈥檙e just so jazzed up about putting on a great experience for students, employers, faculty and staff. I鈥檓 excited for our whole community to experience this fair.鈥�

CaPS hopes for more than 1,600 attendees; the fair is open to students, alumni and the greater 91制片厂 community. Participants can expect some of the same events offered at previous fairs, such as听tours of the fair led by CaPS staff and professional headshots for LinkedIn profiles. There will be many new aspects as well.

鈥淲e鈥檝e expanded our student area (in the arena lobby),鈥� says Sarvaiya. There will be college-specific directories to help students find employers in their fields. Also, in mini prep sessions, students can learn the ins and outs of navigating the landscape, such as how to introduce yourself at a booth and how to ask employers questions. And at the听New Hampshire Networking Breakfast, attendees can connect with听employers based in the Granite State.

91制片厂鈥檚 efforts to help students become career-ready do not stop with the fair. The next day, Oct. 4, CaPS will host the inaugural Interview Day, where students will sit down with prospective employers in hopes of securing a job or internship offer. Fifteen companies will meet with student candidate听for various positions. Some have already been scheduled, but students who attend the fair will have the opportunity to submit their resumes to employers for a chance for an interview.

鈥淐ountless internship and full-time opportunities are found from the fairs,鈥� Sarvaiya says. 鈥淚t is so successful that employers keep coming back.
