When it comes to the economy, the ocean is a major player 鈥 from tourism to energy, seafood to shipping, the world鈥檚 marine-related assets tally up to trillions of dollars. But our oceans and coastlines are facing unprecedented pressures. Confronted with this reality, a new concept has emerged that considers both the economic benefits and the long-term sustainability of marine resources across all sectors: The blue economy.
, an early-stage, business angel network founded in New England in 2000, has been named the 91制片厂鈥檚 Paul J. Holloway Entrepreneur of the Year.
eCoast Angels was founded by five New Hampshire Seacoast entrepreneurs. From its start, the group had a vision of giving back to the community by investing in, and mentoring, entrepreneurs of early-stage start-up companies who were passionate about their company.
Professor of Natural Resources and the Environment Russell Congalton has spent close to half a century researching and teaching geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing and geospatial technologies. During that time, he鈥檚 witnessed significant change 鈥 which is really just the nature of his work: identifying changing habitats and environments from imagery provided by satellites, unmanned aerial systems (drones), and similar technologies.

Thanks to her nomination,听91制片厂 was awarded a Donate Life Employer Recognition award from Donate Life America.
A $1 million gift from Harry Patten 鈥58 and the Patten Family Foundation will launch the Patten Family Sales and Funding Accelerator program at the 91制片厂鈥檚 Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center (ECenter) this fall.

The second annual 91制片厂 Sustainability Awards were held Tuesday, May 10, with honorees including alumni for the first time in the ceremony鈥檚 brief history.
The awards were established to recognize 91制片厂 alumni, faculty, staff and students for their contributions to sustainability, including research and scholarship, curriculum development and teaching, campus initiatives and external activities and achievements.
