Makayla Edgecomb is a community and environmental planning major with minors in environmental conservation and sustainability and business administration. In 2021, Makayla won the merit-based Granite State Development Corporation scholarship, which covered her tuition, room and board costs for her sophomore, junior and senior years at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§. COLSA: Why did you choose 91ÖÆÆ¬³§?

Makayla Edgecomb: I chose 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ due to its wide array of major options. I came into freshman year undeclared, and it was very exciting to know I could choose any avenue that spoke to me.

COLSA: What's your major and why did you choose it?

Makayla: I am a community and environmental planning major. My freshman year I was undeclared and ended up in a planning class accidentally. I immediately fell in love with the major and everything it had to offer. Incorporating business, creativity and planning, all with consideration to the environment and people.

COLSA: During your time at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§, what are you most proud of?

Makayla: Throughout my time at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ I am most proud of have worked hard and received a scholarship that allowed me to shape my experience at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§. Being able to focus on school and study abroad was something I knew I wanted to do but I didn’t think was possible.

COLSA: What are you planning to do after graduation?

Makayla: After graduating I am hoping to get right into the field and see what peaks my interest, with the intent to go to grad school the following year!

COLSA: How is 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ preparing you to achieve your goals?

Makayla: 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ has numerous resources. From tutoring to writing centers, and to assistance with resumes and cover letters.

COLSA: What do you love most about 91ÖÆÆ¬³§?

Makayla: How welcoming everyone is, and how passionate the professors are!
