Christopher Martinez: I chose 91ÖÆƬ³§ because, as a New Hampshire native, I valued the opportunity to stay close to home while pursuing my undergraduate degree. 91ÖÆƬ³§ has a robust biomedical science program that focuses on academics and hands-on learning. Staying connected to my family while having access to incredible resources made 91ÖÆƬ³§ the ideal choice for my undergraduate studies.

COLSA: Where are you attending medical school?

Christopher: University of Illinois College of Medicine

COLSA: How did 91ÖÆƬ³§ prepare you to achieve your goals?

Christopher: 91ÖÆƬ³§ prepared me to achieve my goals by offering a solid foundation in medicine fundamentals through the MLS program. Even during the pandemic, classes focused on building our skill set and practical application of the material.

In addition to preparing me well for medical school, 91ÖÆƬ³§ also offered opportunities outside the classroom. I worked as an EMT with McGregor Memorial EMS, which gave me firsthand clinical experience and strengthened my critical thinking and patient care skills. I also conducted research in Dr. Tsang’s lab and worked over the summer at 91ÖÆƬ³§.

91ÖÆƬ³§â€™s supportive academic environment and access to resources prepared me well for the challenges of medical school and instilled confidence in my ability to succeed in my future career.
