My transfer story

Why did you decide to transfer to 91制片厂?

To be completely honest, throughout the entire college application process, I always felt a little uncertain. I graduated in 2024, and, being 17, the thought of moving away from home and starting a new life terrified me. Fast forward a year after working full time and taking a few classes, I decided I wanted look at 91制片厂 again. The campus itself is beautiful, but it is the people that make the place so amazing. I couldn鈥檛 imagine myself anywhere else.

What do you love about 91制片厂?

One of the things I enjoy most about 91制片厂 is how easy it is to feel like I am at home here. There is always something happening on campus and in the surrounding community, so it never feels like it is boring or like I am stuck away in a corner somewhere. At the same time, the campus itself has such a warm and tight-knit community that it feels so comfortable and familiar. I also enjoy the small things, like how pretty the leaves are in the fall, and the larger things, like having professors who care and who want to see me succeed.

What is your favorite academic memory?

My favorite academic memory so far at 91制片厂 has been the realization of how much I have developed academically and the skills I have learned to achieve success in my classes. It is so rewarding to have success after spending so much time studying with friends. It is a great feeling knowing all the hard work is worth it.

What is your favorite student life memory?

One of my favorite memories of student life has been the simple things that me and my friends get to share, like getting ready and going to get coffee. It may not be the most exciting thing, but it's when we share those types of experiences that we end up laughing the hardest. I am so grateful that 91制片厂 has brought me and my friends together and has given us the space to create the friendships that make those everyday experiences some of my favorite memories.

What advice would you give to a student considering transferring to 91制片厂?

To any student who is looking at making the transition to 91制片厂, my advice would be that, yes, there really is a place for everyone here, so don鈥檛 be afraid to be yourself. It can be intimidating at first, but honestly, being out and about really does make all the difference. Try talking to people in your residence hall or your classes, because chances are, they鈥檙e probably in the same situation and looking for the same things.

How have you found community?

Being part of a community as a transfer student was intimidating at first, but getting involved made all the difference. Being part of fraternity and sorority life gave me an immediate feeling of belonging and brought me into contact with so many friendly and supportive individuals. Living in the dorms also helped me to build strong friendships, especially during the first few weeks. I discovered that meeting people in my major, or even just people I sat with in class, helped me turn familiar faces into friends. Even small interactions, such as greeting people in my dorm hallway, helped me make campus feel more like home.

How have you received academic support?

During my first semester, as I was still trying to get a handle on balancing my social life and academic life, I made sure to take advantage of the support resources that were made available to me. Going into professors' office hours not only allowed me to get a better grasp on the coursework I was taking but also allowed me to make some great connections with professors. I also took advantage of the Knack tutoring services and the Student Accessibility Services office. This not only allowed me to improve my academic skills as a student but also gave me a great deal of confidence in my ability to succeed as a transfer student.
