Sophie Hodge '28, from East Hampstead, NH, is a B.S. biomedical science: medical and veterinary sciences major. Sophie shared her experience as an undergraduate student in COLSA. She is one of COLSA's ambassadors for the 2025-26 academic year.
Why did you choose 91ÖÆÆ¬³§?
I chose to attend 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ because of the expansive opportunities that this school offered. There are so many ways to get involved in research, student life, and sports, and that really drew me to 91ÖÆÆ¬³§.
What is your major and what do you love about it?
I am majoring in Biomedical Science: Medical and Veterinary Sciences. What I love about my major is taking lab classes and being able to run scientific experiments under the guidance of a professor. Some labs offer the opportunity to conduct independent research and be able to research what you are interested in.
What's the best academic experience you've had at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§?
The best academic experience I have had at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ was presenting at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§'s research conference. Being able to present research during my freshman year was a fantastic experience, and I learned a lot from it.
What's the best experience you've had at 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ outside the classroom/lab?
One of the best experiences that I've had outside of the classroom has been sledding outside of the Dimond Library during the wintertime.
How is 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ preparing you to achieve your goals?
91ÖÆÆ¬³§ has a lot of advising resources, and utilizing this has helped me prepare to achieve both my long term and short term goals.
