The Fulbright U.S. Student Program offers grants for undergraduate seniors, alumni, and graduate students to pursue advanced research, graduate study, or English teaching assistantships in a foreign country. Funded by the U.S. Department of State, Fulbright is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities abroad in more than 140 countries.

Fulbright Application Deadlines

  • July 21, 2026: Last day to begin application to receive full support with application
  • August 25, 2026, 5pm EST: Internal (91ÖÆÆ¬³§) Deadline - A full application must be locked for Campus Review to ensure an interview by the 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ Fulbright panel.
  • September 8 - September 25, 2026: 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ interviews take place
  • October 6, 2026, 5pm EST: External (Fulbright) Deadline

    • Please let us know if you intend to apply by emailing the Fellowships Office at national.fellowships@unh.edu. We will then add you to our Fulbright Canvas course.
  • Determine if you are interested in a , , or an . Review country descriptions, look carefully at program descriptions and requirements, and select the country you would like to apply to.
  • By May 15: Meet with the Office (ETAs please meet with Daphne Chevalier and Study/Research with Leigh Pratt; if you are undecided, please meet with Leigh Pratt).
    • *It is okay if you are still choosing your grant type/location during our meeting. We will discuss the following: Your motivation for applying; what country(s) you are looking at; project ideas (research grant); potential affiliations (research grant); teaching/tutoring experience (ETA), preparation for graduate work (study grant); letters of recommendation; and your ambassadorial qualities, leadership experience, and/or ideas for community engagement, etc.
  • Wednesday Fulbright sessions – Join us on Teams on Wednesday afternoons (12 – 12:30) as we discuss the following topics. *Note: We will be available from 12 – 1pm, but will only plan for roughly 30 minutes of meeting material.

  • By July 21: (1) Provide names and email addresses for all three recommenders to the Fellowships Office. We will send them information packets and steps to submit. (For 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ interview process, recommenders will send letters to national.fellowships@unh.edu) (2) You must submit the first draft of SGP by this date.
  • By July 28: Complete FERPA form to request a copy of your official 91ÖÆÆ¬³§ transcript from the Office of National Fellowships. You will need to upload this to your application.
  • Tuesday, August 25 at 5pm EST: INTERNAL DEADLINE (to receive a campus interview): 
    • (1) Lock your application in the Fulbright portal for campus review.
    • (2) Check in with recommenders to make sure they submitted their recommendations to national.fellowships@unh.edu.
    • (3) Complete the interview availability form (in Canvas).
    • (4) Sign and return nomination agreement form (in Canvas).
