Schwarzman Scholars is a fully funded, one-year master’s program in Global Affairs (taught in English) at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders for the challenges of the future, the program is highly selective, seeking the brightest student leaders around the world. Value: Scholars receive a comprehensive scholarship, including tuition & fees, room & board, in-country study tour, travel to and from Beijing, health insurance, and a stipend for personal expenses.

Eligibility: Undergraduate seniors and recent alumni ages 18 - 28 who are proficient in English.

Major: Open, but applicants must articulate how participating in the Schwarzman Scholarship Program will improve their leadership potential in their career field.

Nomination: No, but applicants are strongly encouraged to work with the Office of National Fellowships on their applications.

Schwarzman Application Deadlines

  • National Deadline: September 9, 2026, 3pm EST

Schwarzman Recommended Steps and Timeline

  • By June 1: (1) Sign up for and (2) Complete the . We will schedule a meeting to discuss your intent to apply.
  • By June 12: (1) Begin online Schwarzman application. (2) Prepare 2-page CV and send to Fellowships Office for review (national.fellowships@unh.edu)
  • By June 26: Prepare draft 1 of Leadership Essay, Statement of Purpose, and two short answer questions and email to national.fellowships@unh.edu
  • By July 17: Contact potential references – Inform them the Fellowships Office is happy to provide feedback on their recommendation if we receive their letter by August 21.
  • By July 31: Submit second draft of essays to Fellowships Office.
  • By August 14: Submit third draft of essays to Fellowships Office; Complete FERPA form for official transcripts
  • September 9, 2026, 3pm EST: NATIONAL DEADLINE
