New to 91制片厂, but not to college? Transfer Orientation is designed just for you. Whether you're joining us from a community college, another four-year institution, the military, or another path entirely, this day-long program is focused on helping you transition smoothly to life as a Wildcat.
Orientation is your opportunity to get to know 91制片厂鈥檚 campus, connect with other transfer students, meet staff and faculty, and prepare for your first semester in Durham. While course registration happens separately through a meeting with your academic advisor, Transfer Orientation ensures you're ready for the fall鈥攁nd excited to begin your journey at 91制片厂.
Parents and Family members will also have the opportunity to participate in an 91制片厂 Orientation that runs concurrently with New Student Orientation. Learn more about Parent & Family Orientation here.
Your Orientation Session
Transfer Orientation is a one-day program held on Thursday, June 18 2026.
We鈥檒l start the day with a warm welcome from university leadership, then break into small groups with Orientation Leaders for campus tours and activities. You'll learn about support services, hear from current students, and attend college-specific sessions that help you feel more at home at 91制片厂.
There is no overnight stay for Transfer Orientation.
You鈥檒l receive a detailed schedule at check-in, but you can expect the day to run from 8 a.m. - 3:30p.m.
How to Register
All deposited students will receive an email invitation to register for Transfer Orientation in mid-spring.
Registering is a four-step process:
- Log into your .
- Complete the Academic Questionnaire required by your college advisors in preparation for course registration.
- Once submitted, you鈥檒l receive a confirmation email and a new link that brings you to the Orientation Registration Portal.
- Select your session (Transfer Orientation is one date: Thursday, June 18) and complete all remaining questions, including registering any family members or guests you'd like to bring.
What About Course Registration?
As a transfer student, you won鈥檛 register for classes during Orientation. Instead, your course registration happens separately, through a one-on-one advising meeting.
Here鈥檚 what to expect:
- Your academic advisor will reach out after May 18 via your 91制片厂 email address with instructions to schedule your advising session.
- Before your meeting, review your Degree Works account, which shows how your transfer credits apply to your degree.
- It's also a good idea to look at your major鈥檚 course requirements in the , and check out the if anything seems unclear.
- During your advising meeting, you鈥檒l talk through your academic plan and register for classes with your advisor鈥檚 help.
