NHPR: Black, Latino Workers Lost Jobs At Higher Rate, Researchers Say

New research from Rogelio听S谩enz and Corey Sparks found that people of color and women have experienced higher unemployment than whites and men during the COVID-19 pandemic, and women of color and Latina immigrants have the highest jobless rates.听Overall, the researchers said, Black and Latino unemployment remains higher than white unemployment. S谩enz and Sparks published their research with the Carsey School.

What do you anticipate your first steps to be?听

Reaching for a Galaxy Far, Far Away

After her first semester at 91制片厂, Morgan Saidel was miserable. It took a course in astronomy for her to realize it was because she had ignored her instincts to reach for the stars.

In high school, Saidel鈥檚 wanted to study astrophysics 鈥� she had a deep love of space 鈥� and pursue a career in research. But people whose opinion she highly respected discouraged her, saying it would be hard to find a job. So she declared neuroscience as her major. Then Intro to Modern Astronomy reset her course.
