A 100TH BIRTHDAY IS A MILESTONE worthy of a parade 鈥� or, in the case of the Wildcat Marching Band, two. Last November, the 125-some member band traveled to Philadelphia to march in that city鈥檚 annual Thanksgiving Day Parade. Introduced by Gimbel鈥檚 department store in 1920, Philadelphia鈥檚 is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States. 鈥淲e try to do a parade or two every year,鈥� says band director Casey Goodwin 鈥�01, 06G. 鈥淲hen we got the invitation to apply to Philadelphia, I saw that 2019 would be a celebration of its 100th anniversary. It seemed fitting.鈥�

Wayne Jones, provost and vice president for academic affairs, has been elected to the rank of fellow by the National Academy of Inventors (NAI), an organization whose members include U.S. and international universities as well as governmental and nonprofit research institutes.
