Recognizing the growing career opportunities in the field, the听is launching a public health undergraduate major and relaunching the full-time Master of Public Health program (MPH) during the fall 2025 semester.听

Could changing the narrative help New Hampshire retain more young people? While it鈥檚 not the only factor, research from 91制片厂 suggests that cultural narratives significantly influence how rural youth make post-high school decisions. Understanding these narratives could help the state develop strategies to keep more young people in their communities.

鈥淎s one does,鈥� quips the senior veterinary pathologist at 91制片厂鈥檚 .听

Many moons before Harlan Spence became the director for the 91制片厂 Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space (EOS), his father, an amateur astronomer, instilled in Spence a curiosity and excitement about the universe. This was the era of the Space Race between the U.S.听and the Soviet Union, and space exploration was on everyone鈥檚 minds, televisions and airwaves; it was especially captivating for Spence during his youth.听

For a time, 91制片厂 researchers Paula Mouser and Adam Wymore were connected only by the invisible chemicals they were studying.听

That is, Mouser, a professor of civil and environmental engineering, and Wymore, associate professor of natural resources and the environment, had both independently worked on research tackling the impact of pollution. Mouser鈥檚 recent work focused specifically on PFAS 鈥� toxic substances found in many industrial and consumer products known as 鈥渇orever chemicals鈥� for their persistence in the environment.听

By all measures, FY24 was another outstanding year for 91制片厂 research, economic engagement and outreach. Our research awards continue to rise, expenditures were higher than ever and our work improved lives in New Hampshire and beyond.

Every year, New Hampshire鈥檚 coastline is battered by winter storms, reshaping听the shore unpredictably and making risk assessments for coastal flooding a moving target. To help identify both resilient and vulnerable areas, some 40 volunteers hit the beaches to collect information on beach elevation, slope and other characteristics at 15 locations in New Hampshire.听

Public research universities like 91制片厂 occupy a special place in the American education landscape. We are beholden to serve our state by educating its听citizens and creating knowledge that will ensure a safe, prosperous future for everyone in New Hampshire.听

Rouzbeh Yassini-Fard, entrepreneur and philanthropist and executive director of the 91制片厂 Broadband Center of Excellence, can claim as his professional legacy key roles in some significant broadband advancements, including inventing the cable modem and establishing cable modem industry standards. At first glance, founding a poetry festival would seem something of an incongruous addition to that list of achievements. But Yassini-Fard had strong motivation for doing just that 鈥� he made the gift that established the at 91制片厂 to honor the life of his mother.
