"Interpreting in the Zone": ASL/English Interpreting Professor Delivers Lecture at Gallaudet University

The Threat of Antibiotic Resistance

Undermining a cornerstone of modern medicine, bacterial drug resistance has become an urgent threat to human health. A recent report by the CDC shows that, each year, antibiotic resistant bacteria and fungi cause more than 35,000 deaths and 2.8 million infections across the U.S. alone.

鈥淎 death from an antibiotic-resistant infection occurs about every 15 minutes, and a resistant infection occurs every 11 seconds,鈥 said CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield in a press conference about the report.听鈥淎ntibiotic resistance threatens both our nation鈥檚 health and our global security.鈥
