The 91制片厂 at Manchester held a reception last night to celebrate the establishment of the Staff Sergeant Ryan M. Pitts 鈥�13 Scholarship Fund, which will provide financial support to students who are veterans of military service. 91制片厂 Manchester veteran students and alumni, donors to the fund, Governor Maggie Hassan, Manchester Mayor Ted Gatsas and other dignitaries gathered Tuesday evening to recognize the extraordinary heroism that made Pitts, a 91制片厂 Manchester alumnus, so deserving of this honor.

Salem native Chelsie Veilleux was looking for a niche when she came to 91制片厂 Manchester. What she ended up finding, however, was a home. After struggling to balance work and school at two different colleges, Veilleux enrolled at 91制片厂 Manchester 鈥� where she found the sense of community she was searching for.

Seth Abramson, assistant professor of English, co-edited an annual anthology of American writing that celebrates literary pieces that push the boundaries of conventional writing, whether in style, form, syntax or even presentation. His new book is the only annual anthology of experimental writing published in the United States, and is the only 鈥淏est American鈥�-titled anthology to accept unsolicited submissions, making it a fresh and exciting addition to the nation鈥檚 complement of literary anthologies.

Immigration has been a hotly debated topic for both Republican and Democratic presidential hopefuls as they travel the campaign trail across New Hampshire. Once candidates move beyond the talking points, the subject reveals many complex policy questions, whether it鈥檚 how to enforce the country鈥檚 borders or the United States鈥� role in the Syrian refugee crisis. Similar issues were also hotly debated in 1979, when 91制片厂 at Manchester Adjunct Professor Judith Kumin began working in the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Business is typically concerned about bottom lines, strategy, profits and losses. And while those things are important for sure, one 91制片厂 at Manchester professor is looking to broaden that paradigm by making charitable giving a more natural partner.

English Professor Seth Abramson was referenced in an article by Rolling Stone on January 7, 2016. The article, "Sturgill Simpson Says New Album Is 'Already Finished'", acknowledges Abramson's role in inspiring Sturgill Simpson's Grammy-nominated album Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.

The 91制片厂 at Manchester is partnering with White Mountains Community College to offer WMCC students a pathway to bachelor鈥檚 degrees in homeland security and computer science & entrepreneurship at 91制片厂 Manchester. Supported by the Neil and Louise Tillotson Fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, the partnership will bring the state鈥檚 flagship public institution to northern New Hampshire.

Michael Decelle will assume leadership of the Manchester campus at the 91制片厂 on Feb. 22, 2016, replacing J. Michael Hickey who has served in an interim role for the last two years. Decelle is currently president and CEO of CrossFiber, a venture-funded startup company in San Diego, and has served in a number of executive leadership roles throughout the technology industry.
